CUSTOMS REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PHILIPPINES

Before sending goods to The Philippines, make sure you understand the nation’s import regulations.

All deliveries to The Philippines from the UK require customs documentation. This will be a commercial invoice. Your courier service will be able to provide these documents for you.

These must be completed accurately to avoid delays in shipping or – at worst – your parcel being returned to you or destroyed.

Include as much detail as possible when completing customs documents. For example, don’t simply write ‘clothes’. Instead, specify ‘2 red T-shirts, made in England’. This helps speed up customs checks when your package arrives in the country.

Some packages may be exempt from customs charges – like personal effects and items intended as gifts – provided they meet the Philippines’ import regulations. Parcels valued under PHP 10,000 may also be exempt from import charges.

Make sure your package qualifies for the Customs Duty and VAT-free allowance by following the shipping instructions issued by the Philippine Bureau of Customs.

Some common mistakes include:

  • Not filling in the paperwork correctly (e.g., putting information in the wrong place or missing sections entirely)
  • Trying to send prohibited or restricted items
  • Being too vague or not providing enough detail on your items – e.g., instead of just saying ‘clothes’, state ‘2 x men’s cotton shirts, made in France’
  • Sending items without the correct licences and certificates

PACK & SEND understands what it takes to meet the import criteria of The Philippines and works closely with clients to make sure their cargo is fully compliant.

SHIPPING RESTRICTIONS TO THE PHILIPPINES

Take time to understand exactly what items can be imported, in what quantities, and which items are prohibited. Always check restricted items and size or quantity allowances before sending, as prohibited items may be destroyed or returned to you at a charge.

For example, most weapons and firearms are also prohibited, while meat, milk, and dairy products are subject to restrictions too.

If you’re unsure whether your items are permitted, contact the Philippine Bureau of Customs.

ADDRESSING PARCELS TO THE PHILIPPINES

When addressing a letter or parcel to The Philippines, put the recipient’s name on the first line, the house number and street name on the second line, the district or barangay on the next line, the postcode on the following line, the city on the next line, then the province, followed by PHILIPPINES in capital letters on the last line.

For example:
Recipient’s name

PHHC Camarin Area D
Brgy. 129
Caloocan City
Metro Manila 1733

Note: Address details should be confirmed for accuracy with the recipient, as the example may not fully reflect the latest postal format.

Include your return address on the opposite side of the package to the delivery address.
